Relational reasoning is the ability to track how things connect, transform and constrain each other.
What relational reasoning is
Relational reasoning is used when a problem depends on more than one object or feature. The user has to notice sameness, difference, order, analogy, condition, exclusion or transformation. Matrix reasoning tests and many logic puzzles depend on this ability.
It is central to IQ Mindware because broad problem solving often fails at the relation level: the person sees the pieces but not the structure binding them.
Training the relation, not the surface
A useful reasoning task should vary the surface while keeping the target relation inspectable. This helps the user recover the underlying rule rather than memorising a visual trick.

Is relational reasoning only visual?
No. Visual matrices are one format. Relations can also be verbal, spatial, logical, numerical or procedural.
Why does it matter for transfer?
Relations are more portable than surface features. Training should help users identify the structure that survives a changed wrapper.
