Far transfer means improvement that remains visible when the original task format changes. In cognitive training, that might mean a working-memory exercise supports a different reasoning task, or a strategy learned in one mission helps in a later problem with a different surface.
This is different from near transfer. Near transfer stays close to the training task. Far transfer crosses a larger distance, so it needs stronger evidence and more cautious language.
Why it is hard to prove
Repeated exposure produces familiarity. Users learn the button timing, the scoring rule, the typical distractors and the easiest strategy for a specific game. Those gains can be real but narrow. Without changed formats and delayed re-checks, narrow learning can be mistaken for a general cognitive gain.
